Welcome to my stress free party plan

The hints and tips that follow have been gained from over 20 years experience if you don’t find the answers your looking for or if I can be of further help please feel free to contact me. Now I know that as soon of you read through the list there will appear to be a lot of does and don’ts the sole intention is to make the party as stress free as possible and there will always be times when what works for one party doesn’t always work for another so please don’t be offended if you read something you disagree with.

What should I book first the Hall or entertainer?
Check availability of entertainer before you book a hall at times you may have to move things around and it may be that one hall is more preferable than another. (there are always more halls than entertainers) To make it easier make a list of the halls and venues then find out which of these offer both the date and time you require having already checked that the entertainer is available.
But always book your entertainer as early as you can to ensure their availability.

Likewise send out invitations early there could be another party on the same day, I once worked two parties in the same street on the same day fortunately I have several different shows.

If the party is at home then not only does it look great but is also easier to find the right address if balloons and banners are decorating the outside.

How much room do I need? No need to worry about space as all shows and parties can be adapted to room size from the smallest to largest venue and everything comes complete.

Make sure the room is big enough, but not too big, for the numbers of children you have invited.
I have no strict numbers rule as I feel it unfair to exclude anybody.

Provide a large cardboard box for presents to be put into as they arrive this makes it easier to find out who sent what so that thank you letters are easier to write and save breakages.

Try not to over-cater. Children do not eat very much or for very long at parties and I still remember how much food we had left over at my children’s parties.

A tip from my wife, if possible always use disposable plates and tableware it save on all the washing up.

My advise on party poppers is to avoid them unless their under parental control. if you are having under 5s. Remember some children are frightened by the bangs.

Don't give out hooters before the entertainer has gone !(Please) balloons, squeakers, blowouts should be left to the end of the party when ever possible its quite surprising how much they can ruin the show if for some reason they have been given out I will with your permission collect them up before starting the performance, for the same reason I also suggest not putting out food or drink during this time.

An ideal time for taking photos occurs at the end when the rabbit is being stroked this makes a wonderful memorable picture for years to come. I will also quite happily pause at this time without occurring any drag to the show.

Ensure the children wash their hands after stroking the rabbit.

Distractions distract, please try and clear the party room of toys where possible. Don't get into major removals; perhaps a sheet over the top of toy boxes will suffice. Loose balloons should be avoided as these are a major distraction and can be dangerous if youngsters put bits of broken balloon in the mouth.

If you are having a bouncy castle as well as a magician, It is advisable to deflate the castle before the magic show, again to avoid unnecessary distractions.

Staying parents are fine, as long as they are not involved in loud conversation. This can be very off putting for the entertainer as well as the children. On many occasions I’ve been told just how much the parents also enjoyed the fun.

I don't want the children to be denied one second of fun, so with your permission I must be very firm with adults during the show and use a very fun gag the children will enjoy.

If running the games yourself please remember to avoid the elimination type of games, by keeping everyone involved it helps avoid the possibility of those that have dropped out becoming disruptive.

Make a list of the games you plan to play and collect together all the resources, music, objects, balloons, prizes etc that you will need. A little time spent before hand will allow you to move from game to game smoothly and keep up the pace of the party and so maintain the interest of the children.

Outdoor parties are fine, as long as you remember: The Sun makes children hot, can burn un-protected skins, can dazzle the entertainer or children during show. Hot children become lethargic, lose concentration, fall asleep etc. Windy gusts can blow a magicians props away and there is always the chance of the odd passing bee, wasp or creepy crawly.

If you are having an outdoor party: If possible use a gazebo or other shady area (tree), ensure the children are wearing hats.

If I book you to run the party where will you travel to?

I am happy to perform anywhere anytime.
